Kim Golda
With trauma counselling, I can support you to overcome the difficulties you are currently facing and to also help you to live a more vibrant, meaningful, and purposeful life.
A Little About Me
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a bachelor's degree in Social Work and a master's degree in Counselling. I am also an Accredited EMDR Practitioner and a member of EMDR Australia (EMDRAA). I’ve completed advanced training in EMDR therapy at the Master Class level, along with clinical training in parts work approaches including Resource Therapy, Attachment-Informed EMDR Therapy, and the Theory of Structural Dissociation of the Personality.
I have a special interest in the treatment of trauma and PTSD, integrating EMDR therapy and parts work, and I am currently undertaking a PhD focused on EMDR therapy and complex trauma.
Alongside my professional training, I also bring personal experience of navigating trauma. I know firsthand that healing is possible, and I’m passionate about supporting others on their own paths.
I’m deeply committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based therapy for the treatment of trauma in the Redlands community.
Experience
Most of my professional experience includes working with people with a trauma background and I have many years’ experience working in the Human Services sector including Child Safety, a Family Intervention Service, a Generalist Counselling service and Private Practice.
My focus is on helping people recover from traumatic incidents. I have clinical experience working with people who have experienced trauma such as sexual assault, vehicular accidents, workplace accidents/incidents, physical assaults, bullying, the traumatic death of a loved one, relationship loss, domestic violence, as well as with adult survivors of childhood abuse.
Approach
I believe that we all have the capacity for healing and to live a fulfilling life, and that certain things in life sometimes get in the way of us achieving these things. Some of these blocks may be due to past hurts, trauma, anxiety, or depression. With counselling, I can support you to overcome the difficulties you are currently facing and to also help you to live a more vibrant, meaningful, and purposeful life.
I use a person-centred approach to therapy which means that when I work with you, I work collaboratively, providing a compassionate, validating environment. My aim is to help empower you to affect your own change through the use of evidence-based, trauma-informed, and strength-based strategies such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Resource Therapy (Advanced Ego State Therapy), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). For trauma work, I integrate approaches such as EMDR therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and various parts work modalities.
